IN THE NEWS: CONVERSE SUGGEST “HOW TO NAME YOUR BAND”

A brand as well schooled and successful in music involvement as Converse can afford to have a bit of fun with it now and again. They’ve launched a new “How To Name Your Band” generator in the form of a YouTube video. It’s just plain fun and some of the band names they produce can’t help but make you smile. It’s low on interaction / usefulness but big on silliness! Click above and see what they suggest for your very own fledgling super group. We’re going with Lead Fleas.

IN THE NEWS: CONVERSE & YOUNG TURKS PRESENT 100 CLUB GIG

More from Converse, one of a small selection of brands doing genuinely wonderous things in music. This time they have partnered with indie label du-jour, Young Turks, to present an event at the 100 Club (which of course Converse also have a stake in and quite famously “saved” from administration only last year). The line up will see Chairlift, Sampha and Jack Penate man the stage with DJ sets from the (quite frankly amazing) Bullion and John Talabot. See you there! Read more here.

IN THE NEWS: CONVERSE “THREE ARTISTS, ONE SONG” RETURNS WITH NEW LINE UP

Following in the footsteps of Graham Coxon, Santigold, Julian Casablancas, Pharrall and more, a new crop of collaborators have joined forces to deliver the new “Three Artists, One song” track for Converse, which is now a regular feature for their work in music.

We brought you news of a limited edition, Gorillaz themed Converse sneaker soon to be hitting shops a few weeks back and this particular collaboration shall support its launch. The line up includes Andre 3000, James Murphy (of LCD Soundsystem fame) and of course Damon Albarn himself – for our money the most exciting combination of talents to date. Keep an eye on the Converse site, your free download will soon be available and whilst you wait, read more about it over at Billboard.biz
