NEW WORK: ETIHAD “THE WORLD IS OUR HOME, YOU ARE OUR GUEST”

M&C Saatchi approached us with the early stages of an ambitious new creative idea for their client, Etihad Airways. The eventual film (to be aired across a broad selection of global markets and media) would be an innovative, high quality production which would incorporate a split screen camera method. The agency requested we suggest a variety musical routes, the requirements were that the piece would need to have a certain cinematic quality, that the track would illustrate the pan-global values of the airline and that it would celebrate the wonders of travel. We put forward Bobby Darin’s 1967 classic, “Beautiful Things”, which fulfilled the requirements of both client and agency. Click above to see the spot.

NEW WORK: HSBC “CAR LOVE”

JWT Dubai recently got in touch to request that we deliver a bespoke composition for HSBC’s new vehicle loan radio campaign. The brief was to create a bed of rich, sensual, disco-led sounds as backing for a custom made voiceover which would express the deep love a car owner can feel for their perfect vehicle! The music itself needed to be opulent in instrumentation: incorporating strings, brass, percussion, keys, sound FX (engines revving!) and more.

Next our composers, Brady Sharples, and our ourselves joined JWT Dubai’s creative director on a call from a London based studio where we worked with Kennie Andrews to record the final voiceover whilst applying the finishing touches to the composition, in line with agency requirements. The ad is on air now and will run via radio across the Middle East for three months. Click on our Soundcloud button to hear the spot.

IN THE NEWS: SEE THE NEW JOHN LEWIS XMAS AD

Year in, year out, John Lewis break the bank with their Christmas blockbuster TVC’s. In fairness they have become something of a cultural event, ever so slightly replicating the heady excitement of a new Levi’s ad gracing our TV screens for the first time in the 1990’s (though of course, two very different audiences are in play).

Music is always at the heart of these John Lewis campaigns, that and spending big on TV placements. Cover versions remain the order of the day. This year Gabrielle Aplin (a new Parlophone signing) takes on Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s “The Power of Love”. She released this single yesterday, in tandem with the ad’s premiere on Derren Brown’s new Channel 4 programme. Click above and see what you think.
